Community Care empowers individuals and families in need by increasing their spiritual, social, and economic strength
Meeting families at their time of need and creating a supportive plan for self-sufficiency can mean the difference between despair and stability.
Community Care addresses issues of poverty and unexpected loss of income. Through comprehensive case management, financial assistance, career counseling and housing support assistance, families discover opportunities for change.
If you are in need of assistance, we want to meet with you and have Intake Specialists ready and able to take your call. You can schedule a guaranteed appointment by calling 837-2162x290 on Sunday mornings between 10:30am and 1:30pm. In addition to regularly scheduled appointments, Community Care Case Managers offer limited appointments Monday – Wednesday at 4:00pm, and Sunday at 12:30pm.
The following services are designed to bridge the gaps between crisis and stability:
Case Management
At times when our bills are already tight, coming across an unexpected need can be overwhelming if not devastating. Case Management provides assistance identifying next steps and developing realistic and attainable goals. Case Managers facilitate access to a full range of available, relevant services within the church and the community at large. Services include:
Prayer and support in safe and confidential setting
Thorough assessment of situations
Follow through in a respectful and timely manner
Advocating with property management, utility companies, and various local social service agencies
Service coordination
Career Counseling
When we reach a point of desperation in our lives, it is often hard to think clearly about today, let alone tomorrow. Support during the job search may include looking for jobs online and in the paper, practicing interviewing skills, and building resumes. Organizing job leads and networking with employers can make the difference between homelessness and complete stability.
Cares
Sometimes, when we are experiencing life crisis, a kind word or note of encouragement can make all the difference in moving from one moment to the next. You can make a difference in someone’s life with random acts of kindness. Opportunities include but are not limited to attending services with people in need, preparing food baskets, participating in hospital visits, writing personal cards, and praying with someone in need.
How can you help?
A Care Provider with Community Care assists a family as they move toward a stable self-sufficient life. Partnering with a Case Manager, these are just a few ways in which you might help:
• Mentor a single mother as she seeks adequate housing.
• Coach and encourage a homeless person re-entering the work force.
• Encourage effective money management skills with a person working to move out of poverty.
• Be a supportive resource during a difficult time for the client.
• Make a positive difference in one person’s life.
