ADVANCE LEADERSHIP WEEKEND

God is doing something at Gateway.

He always is, right? But seriously, this feels different. Over the past several months God has been giving us fresh vision and direction, while at the same time giving us tastes and glimpses of His power working through us to set people free. We tasted it at least year’s Advance Leadership Weekend. We started a conversation there about what it would look like to empower individuals – you and me – to actually be the body, the church – to everyone: your neighbor, your co-worker, everyone in this community, in this city, and even around the globe. What would it look like for us to really be empowered to do church where we do life? We’ve been dreaming and praying about what that could be and have some new ideas in the works.

This Fall we’re doing it again: gathering all our leaders to come together for a time of celebration, inspiration and training to continue the conversation and grow with God together. Advance Leadership Weekend is the time to hear and share what God has and is doing among us, as well as listen to where He wants us to go in the coming months. Although this event is for leaders, it’s open to anyone who wants to come. In fact, we encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about leadership at Gateway to join us for the weekend. What better way to learn about what leadership is all about than by hanging out with other leaders!

This is not a Retreat, this is an Advance!

Coming together for encouragement, inspiration, community and tools to lead the Advance of Jesus good news, freedom, recovery and release in Austin. For too long the church has been on retreat.  It is time for an Advance.

EMPOWERED to Serve, to Grow, To Empower others…

Jesus was the fulfillment of the promise:

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.  Luke 4:18-19

Now we, as the church, are Jesus body in the world fulfilling this same promise.  The Spirit of the Lord is on ‘us’ – EMPOWERED.

Schedule

Friday Night Aug. 27th | Meeting in homes all over Austin.  Empowered to gather, build community, share a meal, worship and learn together.

  • Time | 6:00 – 8:30pm

Saturday Morning and Afternoon Aug. 28th | Meeting at the McNeil Campus.  Gathering as One Body to celebrate, worship, pray, learn and then live radically empowered on Jesus mission in our city and world.

  • Time | 8:30am – 4:30pm

Kid’s Quest Program | A Kid’s Program is available all day Saturday for kids.  This will be a dynamic time for kids to hang out with their peers, interact with great Kid’s Quest volunteers and be encouraged about their parents commitment to influencing in the church.  Your kids will have a fun interactive time.

Cost

The individual price to attend is $15.  If you are registering children into the Kid’s Quest program on Saturday the cost is $10 per child.

Lunch Saturday is not provided on site but there will be a break in the program for everyone to gather for lunch at nearby restaurants.  (Kids in the Kid’s Quest program will eat on campus with food packed by their parents).

  • Sunday Aug. 22nd |Pre-Advance Deepen — We’re inviting Advance attendees to Deepen to get a teaching primer about the dual sided work of leadership from the book of Nehemiah.

When the people of the church recognize they are the builders of a great city, an ever expanding kingdom, and respond to the authority given for this task they are EMPOWERED. Empowered to to share good news, offering a way to freedom, healing for the hurting and release for the stuck.

Detail for Parents

  • Friday night:
    • Since we will be meeting in homes all over the Austin area, childcare is decentralized. Some host homes will be coordinating childcare, others will not. The details and cost will vary by home: some might get a volunteer, others might need to hire a babysitter and pass on a minimal cost to all the families. Some homes may have different age restrictions and activities for the kids. Your Host will provide you with details in mid-August.
    • When you register yourself, if you need childcare on Friday, be sure to indicate that a home with childcare is your top priority.
  • Saturday:
    • Since Saturday is all-day, we think that the best option for most kids will be to stay with a friend or relative. If that’s not possible, we will have childcare on-campus. Qualified volunteers and a few paid-childcare workers will watch your children.
    • The cost is $10/child per day. If the cost is prohibitive, please talk to us.
    • Parents will pack a lunch for their child, to be eaten in their classroom. There may be some allergen issues (avoiding peanuts, etc.); we’ll ensure you know about any restrictions as early as possible.
    • Childcare is available for ages 6 months to 5th grade. Children younger than 6 months are welcome to stay with you. Children will be in classes for different age-ranges (likely to be nursery, early childhood, elementary).
