What is a Small Group

Nobody Stands Alone

As a church we continually find inspiration from the scriptures about what it means to be a place for relationships, personal care, spiritual growth and service.  The community that is described in the scriptures is what we hope every Gateway Small Group experiences.

  • Authentic Relationships
  • Investigating at Your Own Pace
  • Gathering for Meals
  • Learning to Love God
  • Growing in Character
  • Caring for One Another
  • Serving the Needs of Others

What Happens in a Small Group? Most Small Groups meet every week or every other week.  In general meetings will include a meal or light snacks, some socializing about your week, a discussion from a book or the scriptures, authentic sharing about each other’s lives, moments for prayer, care for people’s needs and even serving to meet needs in our city.  Group meetings last about an hour and a half to two hours. Small Groups are one of the best places for you to step into being known, cared for and challenged to take steps of growth in your relationship with God.

Velocity Small Groups

We start 95% of New Small Groups at Gateway as Velocity Groups.  Velocity Groups are 6-week Small Groups designed to create a new rate of relational and spiritual speed in people’s lives. We hope this group experience will be a stimulus for movement from people’s current velocity to a new speed. As a Velocity Group you will grow relationally with one another while investigating taking steps toward God.  During the group you will plan a social event to create closer relational connections. You will also plan a service project to serve a need in our city.
