Are you willing?
Jesus’ willingness to descend into greatness changed the world. His life was characterized by a willingness to do God’s will above all else.
Search your heart.
Search your own heart in total honesty. How willing are you to do God’s will? Is there any place where you’re unwilling? Why? Be honest and talk to God about it. Is it motivated by fear? Fear of what? What is the upside of full willingness to do God’s will?
Jesus’ birth (as a human child) that first Christmas changed the world because He descended into our world to show us the path to greatness. It’s a counter-intuitive path compared to the world’s path to greatness—it’s the path of surrender to do God’s will fully.
Are you ready to take part in greatness?
Do you believe full willingness to cooperate with God in His Kingdom-building efforts will truly make you great? Why or why not?
The mystery of Christmas is that God inhabited a human body. But that part of Jesus’ story did not end with Jesus’ death and resurrection. Jesus’ death and resurrection enabled God to inhabit a Body made up of many willing Christ-followers (His Church). The Church is God’s plan to change the world, and its effectiveness is dependent on our willingness.
Are you ready to use your gifts, time, and finances in God’s Church?
Do you think of yourself as an integral part of God’s Body, His Church? How willing are you to fully participate with your gifts, your time, and your finances to make His Church great? Talk this over with God. Does partnering with God motivate you? Why or why not?
As Gateway Church, we are trying to follow Jesus’ example together—growing in Life Groups of 12, serving people in networks of 20-70, and planting campuses, so people far from God can learn and experience Jesus’ Body in a local expression. Jesus willingly went to Gethsemane, willing to pay it forward for you and me, and others have paid it forward for you to experience faith, hope, healing, and growth through the church.
Will you follow others who paid it forward for you?
If you are a part of this body, this church, how willing are you to pay it forward for others, even if there’s no benefit directly to you? Are you willing to consider the 1% challenge to pay it forward and launch 20 new networks and two new campuses to love and serve people?
Talk to God about it and ask God to show you His will for you.
