Lean In
- What’s your favorite scene or character from The Chronicles of Narnia? Why does it resonate with you?
- C.S. Lewis walked away from faith as a teenager but later returned. Have you ever experienced a season of doubt or distance from God? What brought you back — or what are you still wrestling with?
Look Up
Read Isaiah 53:5-6
Observation — What does the text say?
- What does Isaiah say was done to the suffering servant?
- What did we gain through his wounds?
- How does Isaiah describe our condition before this sacrifice?
Interpretation — What does the text mean?
- How does Aslan’s sacrifice for Edmund mirror what Isaiah prophesied about Jesus?
- Why is it significant that the servant was silent and didn’t defend himself?
- What does it mean that “we’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way”?
- C.S. Lewis wrote that “the doors of hell are locked on the inside.” What do you think he meant by that?
Application — How should we respond?
- Like Edmund and the Turkish Delight, what “sweet” lies have you believed that led you away from God’s best?
- Adrian Rogers said sin “takes you farther than you wanted to go, keeps you longer than you wanted to stay, and costs you more than you wanted to pay.” Where have you seen this pattern in your own life or the lives of others?
- If you truly grasped what Jesus did for you, how would gratitude change the way you live this week?
- Is there an area of your life where you’re still trying to “pay your own bill” instead of receiving God’s grace?
Prayer
- Thank the Father for His relentless love that stopped at nothing to reach you.
- Thank Jesus for stepping into your brokenness and paying the debt you could never pay.
- Ask the Holy Spirit for courage to fully receive and live in that reality.
- Close with:
- “Father, thank You that You made a way when there was no way. Jesus, thank You for taking our place — for being mocked, tortured, and killed so we could be free. Holy Spirit, help us stop running and start receiving. Surprise us with joy again. Amen.”
PRACTICE: STEP OUT
Daily Truth Check:
Ask: “What lie am I believing today?” Replace it with a truth from Scripture.
Choose One Aslan Move:
- Identify one area where you’ve been going your own way — and surrender it to God.
- Share the story of what Jesus did for you with someone this week.
- Write out Romans 6:23 and put it somewhere you’ll see it daily.
- Invite someone who feels far from God to join you for Christmas Eve service.
