Day 10: Creativity

August 7, 2025 by jeffstapleton

“In the beginning God created...”

Genesis 1:1

The Bible doesn’t begin with rules or commandments—it begins with creativity.
Before anything else, we encounter God as a Creator. He speaks light into darkness, brings beauty and order out of chaos, forms humanity from the dust, and breathes life into us. Creativity is the very first way God reveals who He is to us.

And then, God made us in His image—the image of a Creator. He looked at His creation and called it “very good.” Everything God creates is good. And in making us like Himself, He gave us the ability—and the calling—to create what is good into the world.

We may not all be artists or musicians, but our lives are canvases. Through the way we love, serve, care for, teach, lead, and nurture others, we reflect the creativity and goodness of God. Our distinct personalities, stories, and gifts allow us to uniquely express His nature through our lives.

Just as God created the world good, we participate in that same work when we choose to live our lives marked by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and faithfulness. We are invited to co-create a future filled with hope and goodness.

As teachers and administrators, our educators carry this creative calling in a special and powerful way. Every day, they help shape the minds and hearts of the next generation. Their influence reaches beyond the classroom—into the future.

Practice: Make this your own

Today, as you interact with others, pause and ask:
How can I express the fruit of the Spirit creatively right now?
Your kindness might be a balm to someone’s stress. Your patience may open space for someone to grow. Your joy could inspire courage. This is how we partner with God—bringing goodness into the world, one moment at a time.

Prayer for Teachers and Administrators:

God of creativity, Thank You for making us in Your image—the image of a Creator.

We lift up the teachers and administrators in our communities. Fill them with Your boundless creative Spirit. Breathe fresh vision into their classrooms, their lesson plans, and their leadership. Give them divine insight and innovative ideas to meet the needs of each student. Strengthen them when they are tired. Encourage them when they feel unseen. Remind them of the eternal significance of their work.

May their words build up, their presence inspire, and their influence reach far beyond what they can see. Let their creativity shape not only students—but the future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
