FEBRUARY 11

THROWDOWN 2024

Work through the following questions and scriptures on your own, and get together with your running partner, life group, or friends and family to talk through what you are learning.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Which team were you rooting for in the Gateway Throwdown?
  2. There were four messages given that focused on a different aspect of our values: Come as You Are, Live Connected, Be Transformed and Change Your World. Which of the values do you feel like you embody well? Which one/s do you feel like you need to grow in?
  3. There are many ways to take a next step toward living out these values. What is your next step and how can your community help you take it?
  • One of the main ways you can do this at Gateway is by joining a group, whether you are looking to Belong, Grow, Heal or Serve. Take time now to look through our groups and consider what might be next for you: https://www.gatewaychurch.com/groups/

PRAYER

Intercession: Since you’ve shared with one another the ways you are compelled to grow in your faith, spend time praying for the strength, courage, and wisdom to take this next step.

TAKE A NEXT STEP

FOR THE PARENTS

Hey, families! Here’s a look at what we’re covering with your kids so you can help them continue to grow at home during the week.

THIS WEEK

All month long we will be talking about how God uses unlikely people to do amazing things!

THE BIBLE: “Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.”  (1 Samuel 16:7)

THE MESSAGE: All of us have giants in our lives at one point or another. But God still equips us to face whatever comes our way, even if we think we aren’t qualified to fight. No matter what the ‘giant’ is, one thing is for sure, Giants are meant to be defeated. No matter how big our giant may be, our God is so much bigger and equips us for the battle we face!

THE BIG IDEA: God can use me to do amazing things!

ASK THIS

Because sometimes you and your kid need a conversation-starter that isn’t,

“So . . . how was church?”

  • What did you learn today about David and how God sees him?
  • Why is God’s help so important when we face giants of our own?

REMEMBER THIS

God wants our entire heart. Not just the piece we are willing to share with Him. He wants it all. He loves us so much and wants only good things for us. When we go against a giant in our life (a ‘giant’ is a problem that we face that just seems too big for us to defeat on our own), God wants you to call on Him to help you face your problem with confidence in Him. We might not know what will happen when we face our problems, but we do know that we have a God who will walk with us through it all. And that should give our hearts confidence to stand tall!

NEXT WEEK

Next week we will learn about someone who God chose to save the lives of many people!
