Have you ever wondered how you can make a difference in the world? Do you ever think you can bring something new to the world or solve a problem that has gone unsolved? That if people just gave you a platform or soapbox and listened, then things would be fixed? How many of you would change things if you ran this city? Or ran your school? Or ran your work?
If you are reading this and are a Christ-follower, then the Bible has good news for you to know and believe:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
John 3:16-17
Once we know this news that changes everything, God has given us the responsibility to share it! Listen to this passage that we call the Great Commission.
"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
Practice: Make this your own
As we move into a time of prayer, it is important to remember that if we are claiming to follow Christ, we are called to live in the truth of the Good news and to go and share that with the people around us. The Good News is the most transformative idea, word, & action ever to be thought, spoken and done in all history. It makes a difference like nothing else can!
Let’s pray for our kids, students, teachers and ourselves to live in the truth of Good News and be compelled to take action in accordance with the Great Commission.
Read this verse first as it is written:
“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the remotest part of the earth”
Acts 1:8
Now replace the underlined words with the places you occupy and pray God gives you courage and ideas for how to live this out:
“but I will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon me; and I shall be a witness both in Neighborhood or School, and in all Town, and State, and to the remotest part of the earth”
